Chapter 9:
Prom night was definitely a night to remember but it was time for the next step, graduation. It had been three weeks to the day since prom meaning I had one more week ‘till graduation. I had already decided to go to USC since my mother didn’t want me to go to N.Y. I honestly didn’t want to go either since I would have to leave Khalil. I sighed as I prepared for my day with him. We planned on just chilling since we didn’t official have a title on things again. I watched as Three walked into the house for the first time in over four days. I shook my head, he was always in some shit, but he wanted to be like pops. Our dad knew what was up but he didn’t agree, he didn’t like how Three felt as if he ran things in the house when it was only one head nigga in charge and his name was Tony. I laughed every time my father said that since Three name was Tony too. So technically he could be referring to either one of them. I minded my business though; I had my own problems to deal with that didn’t concern my brothers or parents.
“So you weren’t going to tell nobody that you’re not graduating?”
“I was going to say something ma but I don’t have time,”
Oh lord I knew this was coming sooner than later it just had to be when I had Khalil coming over. He thought our house was stable. I shook my head as I went and opened the door for Khalil.
“You don’t have time, excuse the fuck out of me but when did supplying the streets come first?”
“When I put it first, this school shit was never for me I just went ‘cause I had to.”
“Who the fuck you think you talking to Three?” Three sucked his teeth as he let out a deep sigh.
“Look I don’t mean no disrespect but this school shit ain’t for everybody you checking me you need to be checking your son,” I even had to cock my head back for that statement. We all know my mother wasn’t Three’s birth mother but that was definitely his mother in every other aspect.
Whap… I heard my mother fist connect with Three’s jaw. Khalil and I both were frozen watching the scene play out.
“You think you’re a grown ass man! Nigga I built them streets with your father. The work you selling is our shit, you want to be a man get ready for them re-up fees. Yeah you a man, when the block boys start beefing with you don’t come here for back up. You’re so fucking street, ass ain’t never bust a gun but you wanna disrespect me. Nigga I’ll aim right for your head and make sure the bullet doesn’t even graze your little ass. Wanna talk about fucking street little boy, I raised your black ass. But you’re grown so pack your shit and get the fuck out, don’t call no one living right here for nothing at all.
